Big Changes! Contest! Win an official Eskrimadora 2008 World Championship T-Shirt!

Those who manage and direct me are currently in the process of making some big updates and changes to "My World!"

I am very pleased to say that someone very near and dear to me is hard at work creating a web page for me that will be up and running soon.

We are in the process of establishing a non-profit organization to help pay for my endeavors. I do a lot of public speaking and performances and also enjoy teaching stranger danger, assault prevention and safety awareness to kids and women. I never charge. Sometimes I get donations, but most of the time it is done for free. This costs money for travel, equipment, costumes, choreography, etc. If you or someone you know believes in me and would like to be on the board, please volunteer or nominate someone of good character. I think we will need 4 total to oversee the organization and it's funds.

Finally, we are designing an Eskrimadora 2008 World Championship T-shirt that we will make available for purchase with all profits above the cost of the shirt going to the Mariah Moore Foundation. Here's the catch. The design is going to be very cool with multiple colors and my trademark Silhouette knife pose BUT we need an equally cool catchy phrase or saying that fits me and all my fire and passion. Must be unique and original. Must be clean and appropriate for all ages. I'd also like to include "Eskrimadora". Hawke, Bobbe, Mushtaq, Jay, John, Buzz, Steven, Steve, and all.........I'm counting on you! You know me, and my heart, and my love of the art. Please.........

Think you've got it? I want your ideas! The catch phrase chosen will get a free T. I'll even throw in an 8 x 10 Emotion Art Collage Portrait commemorating the 2008 World Championships created by my official photographer, Lawrence Heibel.
Good Luck! Can't Wait to see what you come up with! Bobbe, BE NICE!

LISTEN, THINK........DON'T!

I want to talk to not only the kids/teens that read this, but the adults too. Being in High School, I have seen and talked to MANY people that do or did abuse substances (drugs).
I want to tell you a story.

There is a 15-year old girl the goes to my school and is a freshman just like me. Ever since the 7th grade, I have heard her talking about how her MOTHER, of all people, would give her drugs and let her get drunk - under her supervision - for her birthday. It breaks my heart to tell you, that this girl is very intellegent and pretty, but she chooses to abuse substances and now she is known (pardon my language) as the 9th grade sleeze. Not because she does drugs, but because of things she does while under the influence of drugs. Things I'm sure she regrets when she's sober. Things I'm sure she's ashamed of.

Now, when I say substance abuse, I do not mean just alcohol and drugs, but cigarettes too.
I was very close to my Grammy all of my life, she was my best friend in the whole wide world. But, she was one of those people that decided to look "cool" in college and smoke. Just a couple of years ago, she passedaway. Not because of natural causes, but lung cancer due to smoking. Now, when you think about this, realize that she not only hurt herself, but she hurt others because of her second hand smoke, we think that I hung out with her so much that, that may have led to me having Vocal Cord Disfunction (VCD). This has restricated me in so many ways, and by my grammy not smoking, she could have saved not only herself, but me too. This is not a lecture, I just want all of you to know that your poor choices not only affect you and your reputation, but the ones you love and adore too. Please consider what I am saying, and PLEASE do not get hooked. Don't lose all that is dear to you like my Grammy did. And, sadly, we lost her too. We should have had her for 20 more years. Her grandma lived to 98 and her mother to 92. My gram was just 72............It isn't fair......not to anyone.

Lately,

Right now, I am just living and loving life. Even though my training schedule is pretty hectic, I am having the time of my life preparing for the worlds, getting ready to go to perform in Virginia for the A.I.M USA group down there, and trying to fit in time to hang out with all my friends. I really cannot complain, I do what I love, and I love what I do! School is ending in 5 short weeks, and then I will be free to train and condition at my own pace.... well, kinda. :0) I am still training on Mondays and Wednesdays in Arnis(Eskrima), Tuesdays and Thursdays in Kyokoshin-Kai, and on Sundays in Silat and Navadisha. Then, I usually have performances either Fridays or Saturdays. So, yes I am doing a lot, but I am used to it and with all that I have and been doing, Martial Arts has passed the line of being a sport to me, now it is a lifestyle. Like many of you have heard before, Martial Arts is my passion, and without it, I just would not be myself. It is in me, and all around me. I will keep on pursuing my dreams in hope to make it big one day, and I hope to be the young lady that all girls look up to as a confident, strong female roll model. Even though my goals may seem far fetched, I WILL DO IT! and I will jump as many hurdles as I have to no matter how tall or long. Everyone will know the name Mariah Moore.

Muskegon Girl Scouts!

On Friday April 25, 2008 I was invited to perform and speak for the Muskegon Girl Scouts.

THOSE GIRLS ARE AMAZING AND WE HAD A GREAT TIME! First I performed for them, then I encouraged them to follow their dreams and to work hard and never give up. Then, we got down to business and learned about stranger danger and I even taught them some basic self defense skills and escapes. They caught on very fast and WOW can they scream loud! When they learned that their voice was their best defense, they nearly shattered the windows! Great Job Girls! After that I performed one more time and then I gave them pictures, signed autographs and just hung out with them for a while...

Thanks Grand Master Bong, for the referral. We all had fun and the girls learned a lot too!

I love to work with kids. I hope to inspire them to try things and to dream big. Also, it's a scary world and I want to make a difference. If I can teach kids some basic skills and arm them with information that can help save thier lives, I will have reached one of my goals.
